Award Categories

Individuals nominated for the Irish American Hall of Fame must have a record of accomplishment in one or more of the award categories.

  • Arts & Humanities (to include Music, Dance, Theatre, Film, Literature & Visual Arts)
  • Business & Industry
  • Education
  • Public Service (to include Government, Military, Politics, Community Service & Social Justice)
  • Religion
  • Science
  • Sports

Candidate Eligibility

Individuals nominated for the Irish American Hall of Fame must meet the following criteria and must have a record of accomplishment in one or more of the award categories.

  • Must have either parent of Irish heritage.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have been a full-time resident of the United States for an extended period.
  • Most associated with being an Irish American.
  • Must have distinguished him/herself in one or more of the award categories.

Nomination & Selection Process

  • Open Nomination Process – anyone may nominate a candidate. Each year, submissions are accepted via our online nomination form during the nomination period (August-September). Nominators must include the name of the nominee, category, and a description of the candidate's worthiness.
  • Screening Process – The Hall of Fame Governance Committee along with the Screening Committee is comprised of esteemed individuals from the Irish American community from across the country. Nominations are vetted and scored by the Screening Committee and each year the inductees are selected from nominees with the top scores in each category.
